Introduction to Meng Yongguo

      Meng Yongguo, born in Sanmen Town Zhejiang Province in 1966, graduated from the Arts Department of Wenzhou Normal College (now Wenzhou University) in 1992 and chose to stay and work at Wenzhou Hair Embroidery Institute after graduation. Now he is a senior industrial artist, Master of embroidery Art of China, and director of Wenzhou Hair Embroidery Institute.
      Meng works with creativity and develops monochromatic hair embroidery to be colored hair embroidery. He advocates the creation idea of “adapting stitches to the grain of the subject and adjusting skills according to the mind and affection”, and mainly focuses on Art Portrait Hair Embroidery. Now he is exploring different arts subjects such as landscape, still life, flowers, birds and animals etc. He is also working on third-generation hair embroidery design and mounting method innovation.
      Meng emphasizes the study of communication, for instance, he joined in Zhejiang artists’ creation of folk songs activities organized by the Zhejiang provincial propaganda department and Zhejiang Provincial Literary Federation on the 19th of April,2011, Participates in national forum professional embroidery and holding several Hair Embroidery Exhibitions in overseas such as in United Nations Headquarters (in Oct. 2000), The United States, Malaysia, Singapore and the Netherlands. On the25th of Sept.,2008, he was invited to hold "Meng Yongguo Hair Embroidery Arts Exhibition" in Hong Kong. Some of his hair embroidery works are presented as state gifts to foreign guests; some are for museums or private collections.
